Saudi Arabia Condemns Alleged Iranian Attack on Saudi, Qatari Oil Tankers in Strait of Hormuz

Riyadh: Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has strongly condemned what it described as an Iranian attack targeting the Saudi oil tanker Wadyan and the Qatari tanker Al-Ruqayyat while they were transiting the Strait of Hormuz.

In an official statement, the ministry said the alleged attacks were “unacceptable” and constituted a direct threat to international maritime security, freedom of navigation, and global energy supplies.

Saudi Arabia further stated that such actions, if continued, represent a serious violation of international law, established maritime norms, and United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817, which it said guarantees the safe passage of vessels through international waterways.

The Kingdom called on Iran to immediately cease any actions that could endanger regional stability, international maritime security, and the uninterrupted flow of global energy supplies.

The Saudi government also held Iran fully responsible for what it described as the attacks and for any resulting damage or consequences.

The statement comes amid heightened tensions in the Gulf region, where concerns over the security of commercial shipping and energy infrastructure continue to grow. Iran has not been included in this report as responding to the Saudi allegations.
