SRINAGAR — The Special Judge Anti-Corruption, Srinagar, has convicted a former Executive Engineer and an orderly in a corruption trap case involving the demand and acceptance of illegal gratification during the processing of a contractor’s bill. The convicts have been identified as Ghulam Nabi Dar, the then Executive Engineer, Rural Engineering Works (REW), Ganderbal, and Mohd. Shameem Parra, the then Orderly. The case, registered as FIR No. 02/2014 at Police Station VOK (now ACB) Srinagar, was related to the demand and acceptance of illegal gratification in connection with the processing of a contractor’s bill. The court found both accused guilty under Section 5(2) read with Section 5(1)(d) of the J&K Prevention of Corruption Act for criminal misconduct, Section 4-A of the Act for accepting illegal gratification, and Section 120-B of the Ranbir Penal Code for criminal conspiracy.
