The Union Home Ministry's newly appointed interlocutor for Manipur held separate preliminary meetings with representatives of Naga and Kuki-Zo civil society groups this week, marking the first formal contact since talks stalled earlier this year.
Officials familiar with the discussions said both sides raised long-standing demands around territorial administration and security arrangements, but described the meetings as exploratory rather than negotiating sessions.
State officials said normalcy had largely returned to the affected districts, though several relief camps remain operational. A second round of talks is expected within the month.
