SRINAGAR (KIMS) — Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Friday claimed that he was placed under house arrest again on the eve of the Islamic month of Rabi-ul-Awwal and condemned the repeated and arbitrary restrictions imposed on Fridays. In a post on X, Mirwaiz questioned the government’s narrative of “normalcy”, saying that repeated restrictions preventing him from visiting the historic Jamia Masjid in Srinagar raised questions about the credibility of such claims. He alleged that the restrictions were being imposed repeatedly without justification and said preventing him from offering prayers and carrying out his religious duties was highly condemnable. — (KIMS)
