Parliament's winter session is expected to take up long-pending amendments to the Digital Personal Data Protection framework, according to the tentative legislative agenda released this week.
The amendments, stalled in a joint parliamentary committee for over a year, would tighten rules on cross-border data transfers and expand the enforcement powers of the data protection board.
Industry bodies have sought further consultation before the bill is tabled, while privacy advocates have pushed for stronger individual consent provisions to be retained in the final text.
