India and Bangladesh have finalised a river water-sharing framework covering six shared rivers, officials from both governments said after a third round of technical talks concluded this week.
The agreement establishes a joint monitoring mechanism to track seasonal flow data, addressing long-standing disputes over dry-season allocation that have strained bilateral ties in border districts.
Water resource experts on both sides welcomed the framework but cautioned that implementation would depend on infrastructure upgrades to gauging stations along the border.
