Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan has reaffirmed the Kingdom’s commitment to international peace and security during Saudi Arabia’s participation in the high-level week of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
Prince Faisal said the Kingdom’s participation reflects its continued engagement with the international community, including efforts to promote dialogue and mediation and contribute to addressing shared global challenges.
In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the foreign minister said the UN General Assembly provides an opportunity to reaffirm the principles underpinning international institutions, particularly the United Nations, including the promotion of peace and security, respect for international law and stronger international cooperation in addressing crises.
Amid ongoing regional developments, Prince Faisal stressed the importance of respecting the sovereignty of states, resolving disputes through peaceful means and ensuring the safety and freedom of navigation in international waterways.
He also highlighted sustainable development and artificial intelligence, saying Saudi Arabia is focusing on the responsible use of AI to develop sectors, improve efficiency and support innovation. The emphasis coincides with the Kingdom’s designation of 2026 as the Year of Artificial Intelligence.
Saudi Arabia’s delegation is participating in meetings and bilateral engagements during the UN General Assembly’s high-level week, which runs from September 18 to 28, with the General Debate scheduled for September 22–28.
