taken into account the principles of distinction, proportionality and precautions necessary to protect civilians and civilian property.
However, no independent Yemen’s armed forces have claimed to have carried out 1,879 precision strikes and direct military operations against Houthi targets, killing approximately 950 fighters and destroying or disabling 380 military vehicles, transport assets and other pieces of equipment.
The operations were conducted under the ongoing Operation Fajr Al-Yemen, using fighter aircraft, drones, field artillery, rocket launchers and sniper units, according to a statement by Colonel Majid Al-Nazili, the official spokesperson for Yemen’s armed forces.
The casualty and damage figures are preliminary estimates provided by the military and have not been independently verified.
Military Infrastructure and Supply Networks Targeted
According to Al-Nazili, the campaign has focused on military installations and infrastructure associated with the Iran-backed Houthi movement.
The targets reportedly included fortified positions, defensive installations, command-and-control centres, artillery and rocket-launching sites, surveillance and intelligence facilities, reinforcement areas, weapons and ammunition depots, and military transport and supply networks.
The spokesperson said the operations had disrupted Houthi firing capabilities and caused significant confusion within the group’s command, control and supply systems.
Airstrikes Target Houthi Reinforcements in Taiz
Al-Nazili said airstrikes in Taiz targeted Houthi reinforcements and military convoys heading towards frontline positions.
According to the military spokesperson, the strikes destroyed reinforcement columns, dispersed gatherings of fighters and disrupted attempts to support frontline positions and reorganise forces.
The developments come as Yemen’s internationally recognised government continues its military campaign against the Houthis, who control the capital, Sanaa, and other parts of the country.
Military Says International Humanitarian Law Was Observed
The armed forces spokesperson maintained that the targeting operations were conducted in accordance with international humanitarian law.
He said the military hadassessment of the reported civilian impact of the operations was provided in the statement.
Clearance Operations Underway
Al-Nazili also said military engineering units were continuing to clear mines and explosive devices from recaptured locations and surrounding areas.
The stated objective is to make these areas safe for the return of government forces and civilians.
The overall military situation in Yemen remains fluid, and the claimed figures for Houthi casualties, destroyed vehicles and operational gains await independent confirmation.
